YEAR 13 ASSESSMENT 5

ASSESSMENT 5

USING SHORT NEWS ARTICLES TO CREATE A FILM IDEA

DEADLINE : MONDAY 25 AUGUST

EACH TASK TO BE POSTED SEPARATELY TO YOUR BLOG

You will not be signed on to the Y13 course unless this work is completed to a high standard

TASK 1:

You first task is to research a variety of ‘weird and wacky’ news stories from around the world, but keeping your COLOUR in mind.

Your first stop could be one of the links below. Take a look through a variety of stories and make a note of the ones you think you might like to turn into a short film  (this IS NOT your film idea – this is still part of the planning stages, for which you will get marked.)

Stories should be quirky and unusual. Strange and bizarre stories will make better films.

You also need to keep your COLOUR  in mind while choosing stories suitable for a film idea.

You will find several examples here:

TASK 2:

Pick one of the stories you’ve read.

You now need to write out a treatment/synopsis of film idea (of minimum 500 words) which is INSPIRED news story and keeping your COLOUR in mind.

Make sure you include all the small details which make your film interesting and quirky.

Write out your story idea and POST IT ON YOUR BLOG along with the original news story next to it.

This link will take you to an example of a treatment.

TASK 3:

Now create 2 separate interviews for 2 key characters in your film, using the same format as you did for Assessment 4 (based on the Guardian Q&A interview style.
